Arizona: Nations and Art

At present we are distributing Arizona: Nations and Art, a photographic journey of the indigenous first peoples of Arizona. While promoting the cultures and history of Tribal Arizona, this book also attempts to break cliches and stereotypes by promoting multicultural understanding. It contains the only accurate youth friendly map of Arizona's Tribal Lands. 15 year old Annica Benning photographed, wrote and research this book as a community service project. (www.annicabenning.com)

We have received a grant to distribute 4000 copies to AZ elementary schools, 4th grade classrooms and public libraries. As the districts are seeing the books we are being swamped with requests for more books. The book is being requested for elementary, middle school and high school libraries as well as 5th grade classrooms.

"You must be so proud of Annica. She has produced a wonderful, poignant project. Our remote little school district would be absolutely delighted to receive copies of the book. We have two fourth grade classes and one elementary library. I'm sure the high school library will likely even borrow the book to display it and encourage high school students to dream and achieve! Our native American students will be interested in this book as well. " Bagdad Elementary School

Annica's actual goal is to gift a copy to every 4th grader each year.
