LVC Atlanta Program Developer

Lutheran Volunteer Corps seeks a creative, collaborative leader and organizer to coordinate LVC's local work in Atlanta, GA. This is a half-time, capacity-building position--organizing and supporting local leaders to raise resources and funds, recruiting placement organizations, preparing for full-time volunteers in 2010-2011, networking and building relationships to further the work of LVC in the Atlanta area, managing the local office and speaking on behalf of LVC in congregations and a variety of settings. LVC recruits and supports volunteers to serve one year working in a social justice organization, exploring sustainable living, and building intentional community with other Volunteers.
In addition to excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the Atlanta Program Developer must also have experience working in a multicultural setting and articulating the journey to justice in the context of Christian and other religious traditions. LVC is on a Journey to an Inclusive Community and the new staff member should have experience working against institutional racism. LVC is a Reconciling in Christ organization; we welcome and affirm gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered leaders in all aspects of LVC. LVC Development Director

Lutheran Volunteer Corps seeks a vibrant communicator, collaborative leader and detailed administrator to cultivate gifts and coordinate LVC's national fund development. The Development Director will solicit and steward major gifts and contributions from individuals, congregations and foundations. The Development Director will coordinate and empower the executive director, co-workers and the large network of LVC supporters to gather the resources to accomplish LVC's mission. In addition to fund development, the Director will also supervise church relations and communications; prepare and manage the fund development and communications budget; and collaborate with co-workers for national volunteer orientation and other special events.
In addition to experience and achievement cultivating and soliciting major gifts, a successful Development Director must have superior interpersonal communication, writing and editing skills. Administrative and computer skills (especially with Raiser's Edge) and the ability to travel periodically are also necessary. The Development Director will have experience working in a multicultural setting and the ability to articulate the relationship between LVC's values and the Christian faith traditions.

Benefits include full medical and dental insurance plus four weeks vacation.
