Webinar: Mobile Technology for Advocacy & Activism

Ben and Katrin will lead an interactive workshop exploring mobile technology for advocacy and activism. The workshop will include a quick overview of how mobiles are used in advocacy, engagement and activism, a discussion of best practices of mobile use for campaigns, and an overview of apps and vendors in this space.  Bring your questions and ideas - we'll solicit input throughout the workshop session to promote an interactive, lively discussion and joint learning.

Their offices are all about constituent service, so they are very polite and patient when their constituents call to voice an opinion about pretty much anything under the sun. It’s democracy at work, and you hang up feeling like you’ve been heard. Calls are one of the many ways elected leaders find out what’s on the mind of the people, so they can be important.

Until November, Lisa Traina had a classic New York glamour job: organizing private parties in the Art Deco opulence of the Rainbow Room. Now she spends 10-hour shifts walking down gritty sidewalks trying to persuade homeless people to go to the Bowery Mission for food and shelter.

After being laid off, Ms. Traina, 50, enlisted in the growing army of the newly unemployed that have been marching into the offices of nonprofit organizations since the recession hit, looking to do some good, maybe network a little or simply fill the hours they used to be at the office.
