Senators Edward Kennedy and Orrin Hatch (with support from 19 Senators from both sides of the aisle) have been working hard to pass the Serve America Act (S. 277) to bring about a new era of citizen service in our nation. In the House of Representatives, Reps. George Miller and Buck McKeon are leading the way with H.R. 1388, The GIVE Act. President Obama (who was a co-sponsor of the Senate bill), called for passage of these bills in his address to the nation in February and is ready to sign what the Hill sends him.
